The app on your phone

You can add it to your home screen

Open the club's address in your phone's browser and choose Add to home screen - Install on some phones. You get an icon like any other app, and it opens without the address bar in the way.

It is the same thing as the website. Nothing extra to sign in to, and nothing is downloaded from a store.

Only from the real address

Your club may also have a test copy running somewhere. Only the real one offers to install, on purpose: an icon on your home screen does not show you which address it opens, and scoring a real match into a test copy loses it. If a page does not offer to install, it is not the one to install from.

What works with no signal

A squash court is a concrete box, and most of them have no signal at all. That is the normal case here, not a broken one.

  • Marking a match works completely offline. Every tap is kept on your phone and the screen says how many are waiting. They go the moment there is signal, and nothing is counted twice.
  • The control desk is the same: calling a court, marking somebody present, recording a walkover and reporting a problem all wait on the phone rather than disappearing.
  • Checking yourself in the same way. Finding your name needs a connection, because the list lives on the server - but once you have pressed it, it is safe.
  • Help articles you have read stay readable. The one about marking a match is the one you need exactly when there is nothing.

What does not work offline is anything that is about right now - the live scores, the order of play, a table. Those would be wrong rather than missing, which is worse.

"Saved on this phone"

Wherever you see that, nothing is lost. It means the taps are on the phone and not yet with the server. The number counts down by itself when the signal comes back; there is nothing to press and nothing to do twice.

If you close the app, put the phone in your pocket or let the battery go flat, it is all still there next time.

A new version

Occasionally a bar appears saying there is a newer version. Take it whenever you like - you will not lose your place.

It never appears while you are marking a match. Not smaller, not at the bottom: not at all. It waits until the match is over.

If something looks stale

Close the app fully and open it again. If a page still looks older than it should, you are almost certainly looking at a screen that is meant to be - check the time shown on it.
